Shepherds Harvest Festival Q & A.

Q:    Can children and pets attend the festival?
A:   We are a family festival and encourage children to attend. We do ask people to leave their pets at home. It’s easier for the fiber animals and more comfortable for other attendees.

Q:   How many vendors will there be?
A:   Over 90 vendors from WI, SD, ND, IA and MN host demonstrations and sell their wares.

Q:   Can I buy an animal at the festival?
A:   Visitors have the opportunity to talk with shepherds about their particular breed and sheep may be sold by private treaty. Llama, alpaca, rabbits and goats are often available during the fair.

Q:   Will there be food?
A:   There is Starbucks coffee, a lamb burger booth, popcorn and the local 4-H group offers lunch in the fair dining building.

Q:   I’m from out of town, where should I stay?
A:   The Shepherds Harvest website http://www.shepherdsharvestfestival.org provides a map of the area as well as a list of hotels, bed & breakfast as well as camping recommendations.

Q:   What are the events?
A:   There are over 40 classes, demonstrations, performances, competitions and other activities. The menu in the right hand column of the home page can provide you with a full description.

Q:   Where is the event?
A:   The festival is held on the Washington County Fairgrounds located just east of Lake Elmo, Minnesota at the intersection of Washington County Rd 15 and State Highway 5.

Q:   Where do I park?
A:   Parking is free at the fairgrounds.

Q:   If I can only go one day, which day should I attend?
A:   Both days are full of fiber and animal events. But many families choose Sunday as it’s a great event for moms to share with their children and their grandchildren.

Q:   What should I wear?
A:   Comfortable shoes are the most important because vendors and events are both inside and out. It’s a good idea to bring a sweater if it gets cool because in May the weather can change swiftly.

Q:   How can I find a particular vendor?
A:   There is an information booth available to answer your questions.

Q:   How can I get more involved?
A:   We welcome the talent and time of anyone who would like to volunteer. If you are interested, contact Winnie Johnson at 763-441-3452 or email winnruss@msn.com
