Shepherd’s
Harvest Festival will again host Minnesota’s Largest
Fiber Sandwich – a great spinning event for the entire
community. Vendors will showcase some amazing and unique
fibers, spinners will demonstrate their dazzling skills
and sales of the yarn created will raise money for Heifer
International.
 To
Participate:
Northern Lights Spinning Guild is hosting the Fiber Sandwich
and any interested spinner can sign-up. Registration is
free but will be limited to 25, so sign-up early. Just email
Pauline Bold fiberlooney@yahoo.com,
phone 952-881-2506 or register
and/or donate fiber online. Spinners will need to bring
their own wheel and are free to bring some of their own
fiber to blend or ply with if they desire to do so. Each
registered spinner will be given a button designating them
as a Festival Sandwich Spinner.
Vendors
are invited to showcase their fibers by donating 8 ounces
to the cause. Please bring your fiber donation to the Northern
Lights Handspinners Guild booth in Building B by 9:00 am
Saturday. Vendors who contribute will have their company
name posted at the Sandwich assembly site in Building B.
How
It Works:
Northern Lights Guild members will lay out the various fibers
in strips and stack them like a sandwich laying fiber upon
fiber until all the contributions have been included. This
unique mixture is then peeled off into 4-ounce sections
and given to the spinners to work their magic. Spinning
will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday. Finished skeins will
be returned to the Northern Lights Handspinners Guild booth
by noon on Sunday.
Festival
Goers get to watch the spinners as they test their skill
and creativity on this blend of surprising combinations
and everyone will get the opportunity to purchase these
unique yarns in a Silent Auction on Sunday from 1:30 - 3
PM in the Contest Area in Building B.
Winning
bidders in the Silent Auction pick up their skeins by 4:00
PM Sunday.
All
proceeds from the sale of these yarns will go to benefit
Heifer International. http://www.heifer.org.
